Southwestern Turkey Burger with a Sriracha Lime Spread

Southwestern Turkey Burgers | Fabtastic Eats

Life with two babies can be incredibly hectic..even when you don’t leave the house all day. Actually most times I find it’s even crazier on those days. As hard as it can be, especially in the winter, to get them and myself dressed, bundled, packed up with extra clothes and diapers, I swear it’s what saves my sanity. We start to go a little stir crazy playing inside all day.
I’ve felt especially bad for my 21 month old. He loves to be outside, I wish I could have been taking him out to play all winter, fresh air is SO GOOD for him (&me!), but with a newborn and freezing temps, it has been next to impossible to do, and my hubs isn’t really around except for on the weekends to do it. So up until the last couple days, we were getting MAJOR cabin fever..we were both getting on each other nerves haha I finally received my double stroller in the mail, filled the tires with air and got out. OMG I can’t even tell you how good I feel..its so rejuvenating! Both boys took naps, I got to get in some exercise, and when we got back, everyone was in a better mood! I am so looking forward to warmer temps..then we won’t have to spend so much time getting bundled up!

Southwestern Turkey Burgers

Now I NEED to tell you about these Southwestern Turkey Burgers, because they are best. For realzzz. (reallzzz, who even says that?) I have made these quite a few times, and my hubs continues to request them. The flavor in these babies is insane..there is SO much of it! The prep work takes a few minutes, not long, just some chopping, and then these babies are locked, loaded, and ready to go.

Cook them, slab them with some of the increeeeedible Sriracha Lime spread, and you have a flavor blast in your mouth! I really don’t even have the desire to try any other kind of turkey burger..(though I probably will. because I love them) We are going to have these again, and again, and again, and…….yah…you get it yet? Make these babies!

Oh p.s. margaritas go grrrrreat with these! 😉

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 lbs ground turkey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 Tablespoons minced red onion
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1/4 of a roasted red pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 jalapeno, seeded and minced
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 2 teaspoon hot sauce (I used this [Cholula], its one of my favorites!)
  • 2 teaspoons ontreal steak seasoning
  • 3 slices pepper-jack cheese, you could also use cheddar
  • Ciabatta Rolls, or your favorite burger bun
  • Lettuce
  • Tomato (optional)
  • Avocado (optional)
  • Bacon, cooked (optional)
  • For the Spread
  • 1/2 cup mayo
  • 2 teaspoons sriracha
  • Zest of 1 lime
  • Juice of 1 lime

Directions

  1. In a small bowl make the sauce by combining the mayoo, sriracha, lime zest, and juice. Mix and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl mix together the turkey, garlic, red onion, cilantro, roasted red pepper, jalapeno, cumin, hot sauce, and montreal steak seasoning. Work all together with hands until well combined.
  3. Form patties. Depending how big you make them you can get 3-4.
  4. Heat up grill pan on medium-high heat, spray with cooking spray if it tends to stick, and slap on those patties.
  5. Turkey burgers generally take a little longer to cook than beef burgers, so cook about 5-6 minutes on each side.
  6. Towards the end of the cooking time, top with the cheese, and remove to the rolls once its melted.
  7. Smear on some spread and top with your choice of toppings. Enjoy!
