Garlic Cheesy bread

Move over corporate cheesies, there’s a new guy in town! Seriously, If you read this often enough, you’ve probably figured out two things by now. I’m OBSESSED with all things garlic and and all things cheese, every kind of cheese, on basically anything you can put cheese on, its redic. But one of my all time favorite cheesy foods, is definitely cheesy bread! (Way to simple, I know!) When I was preggers, I was addicted to Amato’s Pazzo Bread, I ate it way to much, (which is probably why I gained all that weight, & I’m sure it had nothing to do with the infinite amount of cakes, cookies, and cupcakes I was eating! ha!)

Any who, this cheesy bread is aaahmazing!! I’m pretty sure 90% of it is in the dough, its sooo good! So for a few moments, please make this and indulge (even more this holiday season than I’m sure you already are, especially if you’re anything like me…baking up the wazoo!) And if you need to wait until the super bowl, Pin this shiznat! But don’t forget about it, because for realzzz, its fantabulous! (We may, or may not, have demolished this in place of the dinner that was cooking up! Winking smile ) I am in love! It will forever be my go to cheesy bread! Who knows, maybe next time Ill switch up the cheeses…I hear Asiago calling my name!

You no longer need to order cheese sticks, pazzo, cheese bread, whatever you call it in your house, because now you can make it at home! Not that this is the healthiest dish by any stretch, BUT at home you can use fat-free cheese, whole wheat dough if you so desire, and you don’t have to deal with all that grease..hey, even a little bit counts! Smile So go and enjoy this deliciously cheesy bread!

 

Garlic Cheesy Bread

Slightly Adapted from Laurens Latest

Lauren over at Laurens Latest has done all the legwork for you testing and retesting this dough, and it truly is amazing. Go check her out, she has pictures of what the dough should look like! Enjoy!

Ingredients:

For the dough:

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 3 cups bread flour (possibly a little extra)

For the cheesy bread:

  • 1 recipe of the dough
  • 3 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 5 garlic cloves, finely minced
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, freshly grated
  • 8 oz. mozzarella cheese, grated
  • salt, pepper, garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Italian seasoning

Directions:

  1. In a measuring cup, stir together the warm water, yeast, and honey. Allow to sit until it starts to bubble or froth, to let you know the yeast is still alive, about 3-5 minutes.
  2. Pour it into the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Add 2 tablespoons of the olive oil and then the flour a little at a time until you reach the desired consistency, tacky but not sticky.
  3. Fit the mixer with the dough hook, allowing it to knead for 6 minutes. It will be smooth when it is all done.
  4. Pour the olive oil in a bowl, toss in the dough, cover with plastic wrap and let it rise, about 2 hours.
  5. To make the cheesy bread, cover the surface with flour, and toss on the dough.
  6. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees with your pizza stone in it. (If you don’t have a pizza stone, see note below.**)
  7. Roll the dough out to about 12 inches, 1/4 inch thick.
  8. Mix the butter and garlic together and evenly coat the dough with the mix.
  9. sprinkle on the parmesan cheese fully covering the dough, followed by the mozzarella cheese.
  10. Sprinkle with a dash of salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  11. Toss in the oven for about 8-10 minutes, until its bubbly and golden.

**If you don’t have the pizza stone, roll out and cook the dough until its golden brown before adding anything on it. Then top it with all the ingredients and toss it back in until the cheese is melted and bubbly!

You can serve it with marinara, my boyfriend likes it that way, or its fabulous just the way it it! Enjoy!
